The Refuge are a local rock band who have been playing together for three years. Performing over 30 live shows before the age of 16 has given this band experience and stage craft beyond their years. Their thunderous sound is made for live shows, and on the 13th, they’ll be playing fast and loud at the garage!
Although The Refuge are a classic rock band they incorporate other genres into their sound as well, these include Blues, psychedelic rock, folk and heavy metal. Formed in 2014, the band’s sound is heavily influenced by classic rock bands of the 70’s and grunge bands of the 90’s rock bands and is often compared to the likes of, Silverchair, Nirvana, Deep Purple and The Doors. Since their first gig winning the 2014 Colac Freeza Battle of the Bands, the band has gathered a strong following in their hometown Apollo Bay and are building audiences in other towns along the coast.
Currently working on their second album which will showcase their ever-improving skills and songwriting, the Refuge were recently ranked third on the bands to watch list after King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard and Rolling Blackouts by the Weekly Review.
