The Bush Tannery

The Southern Otway Landcare Network presents the Bush Tannery. Born from necessity (and a whole lot of ice fishing) in the remote wilderness, The Bush Tannery is a rediscovery of our connection with nature and the traditional practices and teachings that tap into, and strengthen that bond. The Tannery’s aim is to teach and support the most ethical, sustainable and respectful practices that celebrate life, through community engagement and a sharing of traditional skills and practices of tanning and leather crafting.

In this two hour workshop, you will learn how to make leather from fish skins provided by the local Apollo Bay Fisherman’s Co-operative, one of the only remaining co-operative fishing businesses in Victoria.
