Pat and Mark Shannon are a unique Mother and Son combination exhibiting their own paintings in a sunny, warm and friendly gallery in the heart of Apollo Bay.

Pat escaped from Melbourne to Apollo Bay in the early 90’s, and after a lifetime spent painting in different locations her contemporary, figurative and slightly surrealist work now reveals the influence of the surrounding Otway Ranges and wild Southern Ocean; as well as familiar scenes form local farms and the fishing community she calls her own. Pat is renowned for her vast and wonderful oil paintings, which are developed from a series of pastel studies. Both are available for purchase in the Gallery, along with smaller individual pieces and gift cards of her work.

Mark came to painting later in life. After running a health food bakery in Melbourne he also moved to Apollo Bay to paint full time, and has been working as an artist for over 15 years. Mark’s work is dramatically different to Pat’s, demonstrating courageous use of colour and form. His distinctive ‘naive’ interpretations of local landscapes and bold still life studies command the attention.

Pay a visit to Shannon’s Gallery and you will be delighted by the range and diversity of work on offer. And is the sun is out you may find Pat and Mark who are regulars stallholders at the Apollo Bay Foreshore Market held each Saturday, where they display their very affordable posters and cards.

Pat & Mark Shannon will open up their gallery for visitors on WinterWild weekends – July 1 – 2, July 15 – 16, July 29 – 30, August 12 – 13.
