Australian filmmaker Andrew Kidman works in many media. Each discipline, be it music, writing, painting, photography, surfboard shaping, or films is born from his innate connection to the ocean. Kidman’s ability to move through multiple media allows his work to reveal a particular richness. In this way the audience is given a genuine and overall sense of the subject.
Kidman’s 1996 film Litmus: A Surfing Odyssey features surfers and characters such Wayne Lynch, Derek Hynd, Joel Fitzgerald, Micki Dora, Mark Occhilupo and Tom Curren, and was called the best surfing film of the 1990s.
Andrew Kidman’s film Litmus: A Surfing Odyssey (1996) will screen as part of a 20th anniversary tour of the film at Water at The Mech on Saturday 1st July, 2017 as part of a 20th anniversary tour of the film. For the first time, filmmakers Andrew Kidman & Jon Frank will appear for a Q&A after the screening. Andrew Kidman will also perform the film soundtrack.
